GOH Speech Hearing Screening Test

The adaptation of the GOH hearing test to other neighboring languages began in 2024 at the BME TMIT SmartLab speech technology laboratory. The research and development was also supported by the European Union’s ENFIELD project (contract number: 101120657). The work lasted two years. The research aimed to determine to which languages the method could be adapted and under what conditions.
Listening tests have been conducted in every language with native-speaking volunteers. Based on the results, we developed the waveforms for the syllables needed for the hearing test. In addition, separate evaluation sheets have been created for each language based on the results of listening tests. A unified software framework have been developed for the multilingual application.
Finally, the adaptation was expanded to nine countries: Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania, Italy, Austria, and Germany. The project concluded in 2026 (see the video).
Versions of the GOH speech perception test for the 9 countries—designed for everyday use—can be downloaded for free from the ENFIELD website using the links and QR codes shown in the image.
