Voice announcement service at MÁV railway stations in Hungary (live application from 2014)

The system was developed based on the experiences of the earlier experimental system by the BME TMIT research group. Technology: ProfiVox corpus-based automatic waveform element concatenation. The voice corpus contains 12000 items annotated and labelled by hand. The system was first introduced at the Eastern Railway Station in Budapest (Keleti Pályaudvar),where about 6000 voice announcements are produced for the passangers daily. Later the use of this system was extended other MÁV stations in the country over the years. In 2022 it was used on 70 Hungarian railway stations. The generation of announcements is automatic, the machine reads from the text-recorded schedule. The system sounds in Hungarian and in English with the same female voice, providing a unified sound at any time of the day on the given station. The sound is clear and pleasant.
