Prosodic Trainer Computer Program

The Prosodic Training Program (POP) was developed in the Speech Acoustics Laboratory of BME TMIT, mainly for the education of deaf and speech-impaired people in the framework of the TAMOP-4.2.2.C-11 project in 2012. POP is an interactive computer program for examining the intonation and rhythm of spoken speech. The user makes sound recordings with the help of a microphone, which is evaluated by the POP. With the audio-visual presentation of the speech, the program is suitable for helping the student learn the correct intonation and rhythm of a Hungarian sentence. Visually displays the rhythm, loudness, speech melody. It plays also back the reference and the pronunciation produced by the student. The system provides automatic feedback on the correctness of the melody of speech and rhythm. The entire text set of the program was compiled by leading experts and pedagogic specialists. The system was validated during the education of hearing-impaired children at the Dr. Béla Török Primary and Vocational School. Detiled description can be found here.
